Mervi Bro
I am a trained family and couples psychotherapist, and I will complete my specialization in trauma therapy in December 2025. I have also studied solution-focused and cognitive short-term therapy and work as a method supervisor in cognitive short-term therapy. Additionally, I hold EMDR Level I training.
I have worked in both adult and child and adolescent psychiatric services and child protection. I began my career in adult psychiatric care and then moved to child and adolescent psychiatric care, working with children, adolescents, and families. This work allowed me to study a family therapy method called Multi-Dimensional Family Therapy, which later inspired me to pursue further studies in family and couples psychotherapy.
In child protection, I have worked as a family therapist within systemic child protection and family social work teams. I have also been part of a multidisciplinary team at a special school that provides intensive support for children and adolescents, and I have worked as a family therapist for a private provider offering neuropsychiatric rehabilitation.
As a family and couples therapist, I am interested in relationships and interaction, as well as the history of individuals and families and its impact on the present. These same phenomena are also explored in trauma therapy, where we seek understanding and new ways of functioning in the present in relation to oneself and close others. As a therapist, I am respectful and appreciative of my clients. I am genuinely present and provide space for the client. My work focuses on identifying and highlighting the client’s resources.
